Verify420 is a product we built and run ourselves: an anti-counterfeit verification platform for consumer brands in regulated markets, starting with the cannabis industry, where fake packaging is a real safety problem.
The problem
Counterfeit packaging is cheap to print and hard to police. A customer holding a product has no way to know whether it is genuine, and a brand has no way to know where fakes are circulating.
What we built
Every unit gets its own QR code, generated in batches of 28 to 1,000 with background processing and ZIP delivery for the printer. Scanning opens a public verification page with an atomic first-scan-wins verdict: the first scan marks the unit as verified, and any later scan of a cloned code is flagged, with a report-a-fake flow built in.
Brands control their own presence: per-brand theming with live preview, five scan-page layout themes, and public zero-JS brand pages that load instantly and get indexed.
The analytics layer turns scans into intelligence: all-time and 7-day tiles, a 30-day chart, per-batch breakdowns, country capture, and high-scan alerts that flag likely counterfeiting. A trust loop closes the system: a reports inbox, owner email alerts, a monthly scan digest and two-click reorder.
Reliability is enforced, not hoped for: a 41-render smoke-test contract checks every scan page layout on each release.
Outcome
A production platform that gives small brands the kind of product authentication normally reserved for luxury houses, and a working demonstration of how we build products: one core promise (is this genuine?), engineered properly.
